Emotional Freedom Techniques [ EFT],
more frequently known as 'Tapping', is
a simple and non-invasive meridian based
technique for releasing the underlying energy that causes negative emotions.

This technique was developed in the United States by Gary Craig who states that "the cause of all negative emotion is
a disruption in the body's energy system". EFT is spreading very rapidly in the UK and is now being used in certain areas of the National Health Service.

The proceedures used in EFT help to balance the body, releasing, removing or easing negative emotions or blocks. The applications for this technique are very wide. It can be used for unpleasant experiences or recurring emotions from past events such as relationships, trauma or loss. It is also effective for ongoing or future events such as work related stress, interpersonal problems and various kinds of fears, anxieties and cravings.

EFT involves concentrating on the problem whilst tapping [with your fingers] on specific acupressure points on the face, hands and upper body. People often experience relief very rapidly and the technique is very easy to learn.

EFT can be used on its own or alongside hypnotherapy or life coaching.

Specific and straightforward issues may only need 1 or 2 sessions to achieve results.

More complicated issues with many aspects may need more sessions. For example:
- addictions or cravings
- issues with many memories
- current and ongoing situations
- some phobias.

You will learn the full EFT proceedure in the first session if required and it can be used between sessions.

It is common that as issues get cleared other issues emerge which did not seem so important to start with or have been forgotten. These can be dealt with in further sessions.
